Lazo (né Lazarus J. Finn) is a
Reggae musician fromDominica . He is fromCastle Bruce , Dominica. He also holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto.He began his career as a member of the band
Black Blood , which had a large fanbase in Dominica and the Caribbean. He has since toured across the region, and into North America including becoming a regular favourite atSunfest inLondon, Ontario . He has moved toOttawa , and formed a band called Unity, then moved toToronto to form the Lazo Band. The Lazo Band released "Satisfaction Guaranteed", an EP that won Lazo the Top Reggae Performer of the Year for 1993 from theCanadian Reggae Music Award . His solo work followed, including the 1995 Juno Award-nominated "Something Real" and "Impetus". His 1995 song "Crucial" included amusic video which saw wide rotationBET ,CSN and was a #3 chart hit inGuyana .In 1998, he began working with
Sam Weller and formed the backing band The Radikals, winning a Juno Award in 2000 for Best Reggae Recording for "Heart and Soul".References
