Recent Projects
Following the damage to New Orleans caused by
Hurricane Katrina , The Green Project worked to help save materials for reuse and to support rebuilding. It was involved in the deconstruction of damaged or collapsed homes, light commercial wood framed buildings and interiors of larger, heavier structures. The deconstruction was carried out by hand as this allows the salvage of between 45 and 70% of the materials.
The saved materials are intended for resuse to help in the preservation of New Orleans' architectural history. In some case the personal items of New Orleans residents have been recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Stock Carried
Past notables have included glass tiles, antique mantles and Spanish tiles. There are a variety of doors, windows, shingles, roofing, boards, bricks, fixtures, fasteners, molding, etc. – in quantities sufficient for repairs, small jobs, and, in a few cases, large projects.
