SuperFerry

SuperFerry founded as WG&A SuperFerry is a shipping company based in Manila, Philippines. It’s the country’s largest shipping company. Its main hub is Pier 15 in Manila South Harbor. It is considered that the company's SuperFerry one of the more modern shipping vessels in the Philippines. Most boat accidents were usually caused by aged ships and weak implementation of safety regulations. Aboitiz took SuperFerry and the shipping company’s sisters SuperCat and Cebu Ferries, while Gothong started its own shipping company called Carlos Gothong Lines or CAGLI for short. Currently SuperFerry and its sister companies SuperCat and Cebu Ferries are subsidiaries of Aboitiz.

Incidents and accidents

*On October 12, 2000, SuperFerry 6 caught fire on its starboard panel and sinks. All more than 1,000 passengers were rescued.

*On March 9, 2006, SuperFerry 12 caught fire off the coast of Bantayan Island. None of the 664 passengers were injured. *On February 27, 2004, SuperFerry 14 was bombed by the Abu Sayyaf terrorists killing 116 people. It was considered as the worst terrorist attack in the Philippines. *SuperFerries 12, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are the only vessels in the Philippines that have escalators on board.
*SuperFerry 12 is one of the vessels in the Philippines that has a swimming pool on board (the other one was Sulpicio Line's Princess of the Stars, which sank off the central Philippine province of Romblon on June 22, 2008).
*Parts of the Pacquiao the Movie were filmed on board SuperFerry 18.
*Tataynic (a parody of the movie Titanic (1997 film)) was filmed on board SuperFerry 12.
*SuperFerry is the official carrier of Philippine Idol and Pinoy Dream Academy.
*SuperFerry is the only shipping lines that offers network gaming onboard.
