The Killerpilze (English/German for "Killer Mushrooms") is a German post grunge band from Wertingen near Dillingen, Germany.

With their self-written rock songs, the band secured a faithful fan base in their homeland first. In the Spring of 2006, their debut single "Richtig Scheiße" ("Really Shitty") reached #17 in Germany. From their first huge success in the national charts, Killerpilze have taken the world by storm, playing gigs in France, Poland, Czech Republic, as well as Austria and Germany. Recently the band has also scheduled a show in Russia, alongside another German band called "Panik".

Members

Johannes "Jo" Halbig plays rhythm guitar, piano and sings.

Fabian "Fabi" Halbig is the drummer.

Maximilian "Mäx" Schlichter has played lead guitar and sung backing vocals since 2002.

Andreas "Schlagi" Schlagenhaft was the former bassist of the band.

Johannes Halbig

Johannes Halbig, (better known as Jo or Killerpilz) was born on the 30th of July 1989. he enjoys creating his music, playing soccer and partying, he has just completed his last year at his school 'Bovenatura Gymnasium' in Dillingen an der Donau, where he resides with his parents and his younger brother Fabian. Jo along with many other things can play the piano, guitar and bass guitar and he has a fantastic voice, all of these things led him to become the lead singer and guitarist of Killerpilze. He would love to meet James Hetfield the main songwriter, co-founder, vocalist and rhythm guitarist from Metallica and the woman of his dreams.

Fabian Halbig

Fabian Halbig, (also known as Fabi) was born on the 23rd of December 1992. Fabi enjoys playing soccer and creating music with the rest of the killerpilze. Fabi also plays the trumpet which he started learning to play at the age of 8. Fabi is the youngest member of the band being only 15 years old but being the youngest does have its quirks he happens to be one of the favorites because of his young age. He hates artists that don’t see the fun of making music and do it only for the money and he get frustrated when people don't reply to his SMS'. Fabi is still attending school (he has two years left) and is a member of the cities soccer club.

Maximilian Schlichter

Maximilian Schlichter, (known as Mäx) was born on the 3rd of July 1988. Mäx is the oldest in the band. His hobbies are skating and snowboarding. Mäx has already completed his schooling and he also has his drivers license. Besides the band he doesn’t do very much. But he claims to practice a lot on Singstar and Guitar Hero, Mäx has a Strong disliking of Nazi’s and their followers, he doesn't understand why people enjoy slamming the rakes on their cars and in 5 years he hopes to still be making music with The Killerpilze. Mäx is also known to be the 'funny' or 'clown' of the band he continuously makes jokes about one day hoping to be as cool as Jo (A.K.A Johannes Halbig).

The Killerpilze Story

* In the early years, Killerpilze sang in both English and German, and toured their local area mainly Chilli. After meeting the boss from Universal Records, the rest was history for the teenage punkrockers from the small town of Dillingen, who only sing in German. Even though the guys have continued to study at their local school, they have found time to squeeze in the recording and writing of 2 albums and 2 national tours. This autumn's tour is sold out completely.
* Killerpilze are influenced by many bands, mainly by Die Ärzte (a German punkrock band), Enter Shikari, Fall Out Boy, Bullet for my Valentine, Lostprophets and Beatsteaks. Killerpilze have adopted Die Ärzte's ironic lyrics and their own addictive punk sound to create songs to deal with their own issues.
* The band have also worked for campaigns, such as Kein Bock auf Nazis (no support for Nazis), and Punk macht Schule, helping to build schools in Ethiopia.
