Bechtolsheim is a municipality at the foot of the Petersberg in the Alzey-Worms district in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Geography

The city lies near the Selz. The closest town is Alzey (10 km) andthe capital Mainz is 30 kilometers away, both accessible from the Autobahn A63. Bechtolsheim is part of the wine-producing region Rheinhessen.

Arms

*Former arms - Divided by silver and black, coated with a red bar. The arms are testified by the Vllage court seal of 1590, two reliefs at the town hall and a hand painted official arms drawing, created between 1790 and 1797. Silver and black are also the colours in the arms of the "Ganerbschaft Bechtolsheim".
*New arms - The new arms are divided into equal quarters. The top left and bottom right quarters have a blue background with fleur-de-lys. The top right and bottom left have a silver background with a black ring. A horizontal black bar separates the top and bottom halves.

Buildings

Sights are the town hall erected 1592 with southern appealing arcades, the perpendicular Gothic united church St. Maria and Saint Christopher, the benefactor table of the castle of the House of Dalberg and a memorial table for the folklife researcher Wilhelm Hoffmann on the parsonage.
