- Ernest Wilson Huffcut
Ernest Wilson Huffcut (1860-1907) was an American
lawyer andeducator , born in Kent,Connecticut . He graduated fromCornell University in 1884 and fromCornell Law School in 1888, then practiced law at Minneapolis, Mn., in 1888-90, served asprofessor of law atIndiana University in 1890-92, and thereafter was dean of Cornell Law School. GovernorCharles Evans Hughes , of New York, at the beginning of his first term (1907), appointed Huffcut his legal adviser. Supposedly the result of a breakdown due to overwork, Huffcut committed suicide. He was considered by his associates a man of very great ability. He published:
