Minyanville was started in 2002 by Todd Harrison, who had been a successful trader, fund manager, and senior executive on Wall Street, with such firms as Morgan Stanley and Galleon Group.[5] In July 2000, Harrison's first financial column appeared on TheStreet.com, which he wrote as a favor for a former colleague who was going on vacation. Harrison says his bearish commentary on tech stocks resonated with readers, and he soon became a featured columnist.[6] His office location in Lower Manhattan made Harrison a close eye-witness to the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, which he says was the shattering event that led Harrison to leave his "high-profile" career and found Minyanville the following year.[7]
