Danny McCarthy is an American actor based in Chicago. Danny's role as Special Agent Danny Hale in Prison Break made him a familiar face nationwide. He has acted in plays with the Steppenwolf and the Famous Door, and has performed twice at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland. Other television credits include The Amityville Horror, Early Edition, What About Joan and Alleyball.
Danny McCarthy is an ensemble member at A Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago.
McCarthy, known to his longtime friends from high school as 'Cartz' or 'Carth,' began his career as a pizza maker at the Imo's chain in Webster Groves, Missouri. His original score and performance of "The Pizza Man Opera" is a classic.
He attended The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University where he studied contemporary and classical theatre. After college, he moved to New York City first but after a year there he moved back to the Midwest.
Danny created, together with friend and Alleyball writer/director Dan Consiglio, SOXTALK with Pat and Tony, a series of four 30-minute shows that aired on Comcast Sports Net Chicago earlier this spring. McCarthy starred as "Pat", a longtime know-it-all White Sox supporter.
In 2007, McCarthy appeared in an AT&T commercial in which he portrayed a deli owner placing an order over the phone for roast beef. After the meat distributor said that he was all out, the deli owner cracked a joke saying "what, did your wife wolf it down for breakfast?", after which the call dropped out and left him awkwardly retracting his joke.
Most recently, McCarthy appeared in a television ad for True Value retail stores.
