Rajgangpur is an industrial city and a municipality in Sundargarh district in the northwestern state of Orissa in eastern India. The town hosts several small and medium sized factories. The two big ones being OCL India Limited and Hari Machines Ltd. Rajgangpur is considered a part of extended Rourkela.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Rajgangpur had a population of 43,912. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Rajgangpur has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 62%. In Rajgangpur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tribals

The Kisan (a branch of Oraons), Gond and Oraons (kuruxar) are the main residents of the City and the District. The main occupation is Farming and Food Gathering. The Educated Tribals work in nearby Factories and in Government Jobs. The Tribal Men and Women are hardworking people and the main recreation is Singing and Dancing using Mandar and Muhuri. Education , Medical fecility, Clean Drinking Water and Social Justice are of major concern to the Tribals as they have very little access to this facilities.

Industry

Rajgangpur is home to OCL India Limited and some other industries. Larsen & Toubro Ltd. have their Kansbahal Works heavy engineering unit about 12 km from Rajgangpur at Kansbahal. Popular for the manufacturing of Heavy Machinery Products. Mfg specially for Steel Plant, Paper & pulp, coal Mines etc., Rajgangpur is well connected between Sundergarh and Rourkela.

Various other Small Industries Located at Rajgangpur are: TR Chemicals, Scan Steels, Jay Jagannath Steels.
