Fort Severn served as one of the earliest trading posts in the
new world . It was established by theHudson's Bay Company in1689 . When the treaty was signed, the federal government, with the consent of the leaders at the time, set aside land for a native reserve in theRocksand area at the junction of the Severn and Sachigo Rivers. In1973 , the reserve was relocated to the opening of the Severn River. The reserve achieved full status on January 11,1980 .External links
