With the purchase of an Emerson turn table/tuner at the age of 8, Pop was immediately hooked on music. As a child growing up in Zimbabwe, Africa, she scoured record stores for hits, was a
Top of the Pops addict and produced her own nightly lip sync show honoring faves such asCyndi Lauper , Falco and Shannon.Pop eventually landed in Minneapolis, home to Prince and other pop luminaries. With $200 in her pocket, she began winding her way through the Minneapolis music scene as a club kid and aspiring artist.
In the 90's Pop received several breaks as a dancer for the R&B/funk outfits Fast Traffic, Clique and B. Thompson. She later worked with the
Lords of Acid , and was tapped to appear in Prince and theNew Power Generation 's music video "Get Wild ."After a studio internship with
Morris Hayes as well as two years at theTwin/Tone Records label, Pop formed TELEPHONE!- an Electro-hop trio that caught the attention ofDoctor Fink as well as Moir.Under the guidance of Moir, Lolly Pop & The Couture Club was formed. Their Glamorous '06 tour- which featured Moir as a member of
The Couture Club - launched in November 2006 and drew acclaim across North America. Produced by British favoriteRicardo Autobahn as well as Moir and Fink, Pop released her eponymous debut in February 2007 onModo Veloce Records . The Elevator Operator maxi single followed, along with an Elevator Operator video, which was remixed byDanny Morris and distributed in the U.S. byRockamerica Inc.Quotes
