Amy Dillwyn

Amy Dillwyn

Amy Elizabeth Dillwyn (1845-1935) was a Welsh novelist, businesswoman and social benefactor.

She was the daughter of Lewis Llewllyn Dillwyn, Liberal MP and owner of the Dillwyn Spelter Works at Swansea. Following her father's death, she managed the works herself. Her unorthodox appearance and lifestyle made her a well-known figure in the local community. She died in Swansea and was buried in the churchyard of St. Paul's, Sketty. Her house, Ty Gwyn ("White House"), still stands.
