website = [http://www.thebreeze.info www.thebreeze.info]Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) operates a bus transit system of fixed and flexible routes as well as a paratransit service in the
Cape Cod region ofMassachusetts . The CCRTA was created under the provisions of Chapter 161B of theMassachusetts General Laws in1976 . It is based inHyannis, Massachusetts .The Breeze
Fixed route service covers all of Cape Cod. Service is limited in the off season, with several routes not operating, and the remainder running on a reduced schedule, but runs seven days a week from
July 1 untilLabor Day .Year round routes
H20: Hyannis to Orleans
The Hyannis to Orleans Breeze runs between the Hyannis Transportation Center or the
Sturgis Charter School (around the beginning and end of the school day) to the Orleans Stop and Shop, roughly following Route 28 via Chatham. This service runs year round, every 90 minutes or so during the off season and more frequently during the summer.ealine: Hyannis to Falmouth
The Sealine line runs on the Western half of Route 28, between the Hyannis Transportation Center to the
Woods Hole Steamship Authority docks, in Falmouth. This service also runs year round, but like the H20, runs at about 90 minute interavals during the off season, more frequently June-September. Summer service terminates in Falmouth Center (a little before Woods Hole) and passengers wishing to go further can change to the seasonal WOOSH Woods Hole trolley (one of the few remaining free transfers).Villager Line
The Villager connects the Hyannis Transportation Center with Barnstable Village, via the Cape Cod Mall.
The Flex
The Flex runs from Orleans to Provincetown year round. Unique among the Breeze services, passengers can request to board or disembark up to 3/4 miles away from the actual route, at an increased fare. When the Provincetown Shuttle is running, the Flex terminates in North Turo and can transfer for free to the P'Town bus. Service started in 2006 as a result of the Lower Cape Transit Project.
easonal (July 1 - Labor Day)
WOOSH Trolley
Connects with the Sealine at Falmouth Mall and runs through Falmouth Center and Woods Hole, terminating at the
Steamship Authority docks at the Woods Hole harbor. Service runs hourly between 9:30am and 7:00pm seven days a week.Provincetown Shuttle
Connects Horton's Campground in North Truro with Downtown Provincetown. Operates two distinct routes, one heads up Conwell Street to the Airport and Race Point Beach, the other continues down Bradford Street to Herring Cove Beach and First Pilgrims Park (the last route stops after sunset.) Runs on weekends only from Memorial Day until
July 1 .Yarmouth Shuttle
Provides increased service to the many hotels and motels along the Yarmouth portion of Route 28 during the height of the tourist season.
Beaches Breeze
A free shuttle connecting the downtown Hyannis area beaches with Main Street during the height of the tourist season.
Fares
The entire network uses the same basic fare structure:
On
March 1 2008 , the fare system was adjusted again, with fares increasing significantly in across the board, due to budget constraints [ [http://capecodtransit.org/fares.cfm CCRTA: Capewide b-bus Info ] ] . The unlimited monthly pass option was also eliminated on March 1st.Paratransit
CCRTA runs a
paratransit service called The B-Bus. Predating the Breeze, this by request service is designed for the elderly and disabled, though anyone can use it, provided they register and set up an account with CCRTA ahead of time. All fares are based on milage and high monthly usage typically results in a discount.Former routes
*In 2002, the CCRTA ran a two month trial for a loop service around Chatham. This was discontinued at the end of the trial period due to poor ridership.
*On March 1st, 2008, the Hyannis Villager Line (which formerly connected the Main Street bus terminal with theCape Cod Melody Tent , West Main Street and the Barnstable Senior Center was eliminated due to budget constraints and poor ridership.
