November 5 ,1963 inHelmond ,Noord-Brabant ) is a former Dutch footballer, who played forPSV Eindhoven and Aberdeen primarily as a left sided forward. He is currently chief scout for Chelsea.Gillhaus played for
F.C. Den Bosch , but with the then world record transfer ofRuud Gullit for £6,000,000 in 1987 from PSV toAC Milan , PSV strengthened their squad by signing Gillhaus,Wim Kieft andSøren Lerby . In his first season (1988) it was Gillhaus's goals which kept the pressure of Kieft who was the no.1 striker but was initially struggling to score. In that season PSV swept the board winning the Dutch League, Dutch Cup and the European Cup. However, with the arrival ofRomário , Gillhaus found his starting roles fewer as with the Brazilian and Kieft being the expensive buys, he was the one usually resigned to the substitutes bench.Gillhaus signed for Aberdeen from PSV in November 1989 for £650,000 and made an immediate impact on his debut scoring 2 goals (including an acrobatic overhead kick) against Dunfermline Athletic in a 3-1 victory at
East End Park . This was followed in the next game by the only goal (a left foot curling shot into the top corner) in a win against Aberdeen's bitter rivals Rangers at Pittodrie. While with Aberdeen he collected a
Scottish Cup winners medal by helping them beat Celtic in 1990, before joining the Dutch squad for Italia 90. In 1992 he left Aberdeen after falling out of favour with then Aberdeen managerWillie Miller , moving toVitesse Arnhem , after which he moved to theJ-League inJapan . He played also in the Finnish League forFF Jaro in 1998. He finished his playing career where he started, with Den Bosch.
