He has released music with his band, named Kailasa. Inspired by his father and by the earthy, energetic strains of legendaryPakistan i singerNusrat Fateh Ali Khan , Kailash Kher has already created an idiom of his own.The band Kailasa includes
Mumbai musician-brothers Naresh & Paresh who were earlier associated withBombay Black . Kailash Kher is currently a sensation in the Hindi film industry. He hit the limelight with the smashhitAllah Ke Bande , part of the soundtrack for the relatively obscure movieWaisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II . Kailash Kher provides a uniquely soulful, raw, high-pitched voice. He sang a number of the songs in the bollywood flick , in which he also had acameo appearance . His other Bollywood appearances include the movie Corporate in the song 'O Sikander '. His latest songTauba Tauba from his albumKailasa and especially the songYa Rabba is again on the way to become a record-seller. He originally hails fromNew Delhi , where he learnedHindustani classical music . His is a virtual rags to riches story rising from being a homeless resident of Andheri Station (during his initial struggle to find a foothold in Mumbai) to Bollywood folklore. In 2007, he participated in a concert tour in
North America entitled "The Incredibles", also starringAsha Bhosle ,Sonu Niigaam andKunal Ganjawala .He's currently in the TV show INDIAN IDOL on SONY TV.
A singer by chance
Though not trained in the conventional sense of the word, Kailash Kher has managed to break stereotypical images that define the world of music. He says, “Playback singing happened by chance. I had lost everything in business. That was when my friends told me to try my luck in Mumbai where I first recorded a private album with composers Paresh and Naresh. Together we now represent a music band called Kailasa.”
A R Rahman on Kailash Kher"I remember how I first heard of him. I had asked
Mehboob , our lyricist, for a new voice that is earthy and strong, and he said, I have just the person for you. That voice can only be that of Kailash!' And he sent Kailash to meet me. The moment I heard him, I knew that here was a voice that was so wonderful, and which had its own unique space.... I want to say that Kailash Kher's voice has something that had been lacking a lot -- it had pure soul!Allah Ke Bande is one of my all time favorite songs," the genius composer said.Albums
Ya Rabba Jhoomo Re (2006) - with "Saiyyan " receiving critical acclaim as his best song ever"Kailasa" (also coincides with the name of the band)
