Paul Vernon Zahniser was a hard-luck pitcher, never having a winning season in the major leagues. This was not surprising in three of his four real seasons (in the fifth he appeared in only one game) because the teams were under .500. In fact, the 1926 Boston Red Sox were so bad that even
Red Ruffing went 6-15. However, the 1924 Washington Senators were a different story, going on to win the1924 World Series . Zahniser went 5-7 whileWalter Johnson went 23-7.Notable Achievements
