KOAM-TV first signed on
December 13 ,1953 as an affiliate of all 4 networks. It was owned by Lester Cox and Vic Baxter along with KOAM-AM 860 (now KKOW). Its affiliations have changed several times: in1955 , DuMont went off the air, in1953 KSWM-TV (nowKODE-TV ) signed on as aCBS affiliate, and in1967 KUHI-TV signed on as a CBS affiliate, leaving KODE as a sole ABC affiliate and KOAM as a sole NBC affiliate. In
1983 , KOAM swapped affiliations with what was then KTVJ (formerly KUHI and nowKSNF ), and became a CBS affiliate.KOAM's digital signal on channel 13 signed on in
2001 ."NBC Nightly News" Anchor Brian Williams got his start at KOAM-TV.
