- Russian cruiser Rossia (1896)
The "Rossia" was an
armoured cruiser of theImperial Russian Navy . She fought in theRusso-Japanese war , being damaged at theBattle of Ulsan where she was the flagship of Rear Admiral Karl Jessen. She was converted to aminelayer beforeWorld War I , where she fought in the Baltic. The design was an improved version of the armoured cruiser "Rurik" with extra armour of Harvey steel, more advanced boilers, and more coal giving greater range.She was built by
Baltic Works inSt Petersburg , laid down on 20 May 1895, launched on 30 April 1896, entered service in late 1896, and was scrapped in 1922.References
