- Karl Petrovich Jessen
Vice Admiral Karl Petrovich Jessen ( _ru. Карл Петрович Иессен; 1852-1918) was a Russian admiral of German Ethnicity. He was born in 1852 and entered the Naval Academy in 1869 graduating in 1875. Between 1891 and 1893 he was commander of the cruiser Admiral Kornilov. Between 1898 and 1902 he commanded the cruiserGromoboi in the Far East. In 1904 he commanded the cruiser division of theRussian Pacific Fleet and led it in theRusso Japanese War . He commanded the Russian squadron theBattle of Ulsan . He was subsequently awarded theOrder of St. George .After the Russo Japanese war he was promoted to Vice Admiral and retired in 1908.
