Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute is a public high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It offers a full range of courses leading to all Ministry pathways: University, College, Apprenticeship, and Workplace. Co-operative Education is an integral part of the curriculum. For students entering post-secondary education, the school offers a Specialist High Skills Major in Business and Marketing. For students going into the workforce, two Business certificates can be linked with Co-op and Information Technology: The National Retail Business Certificate and an internationally recognized Computer Licence Certificate. Their award-winning mathematics department includes teachers who are leading authors of the province's textbooks, and they enhance the curriculum with the use of the latest technology. In 2002, the department won the Kenneth Fryer Award for excellence in mathematics teaching.

Their programs are integrated with the latest technology including state-of-the-art computer labs with full Internet access. Located close to Donlands subway station, Eastern is readily accessible to students from all parts of the City of Toronto. The school prides itself in serving a multicultural population. Eastern offers a variety of co-curricular programs that support a positive school climate. These activities include special-interest clubs and athletics, including the renowned basketball program at the Bantam, Junior and Senior levels. The Student Senate supports programs for school-wide enrichment. Other leadership programs include the Eastern Ambassadors, selected to represent the school in various community functions, and Future Leaders, a mentorship program assisting junior students. The School Council meets regularly and assists in the shared decision-making process. Eastern provides a balance between academics and school/community participation.

Eastern Commerce shares the building with Subway Academy I, and it is also very close to Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute.

Sports

Professional basketball players Jamaal Magloire and Jermaine Anderson are products of the basketball program. NCAA collegiate player Tristan Blackwood also played on Eastern's basketball team. Baseball is offered the Varsity High School Level.

On May 8, 2008, the school was a site of a stabbing. Luke Thomas, a grade 11 student who is 16-years old was knifed and suffered a serious stab wound to his stomach. Thomas was doing his homework in the basement of the school. Thomas was standing by his locker with his brand new cell phone when he was confronted by two juveniles in which they stabbed Thomas in the stomach.

Police were called to Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute at around 2:50 p.m. where Thomas was found suffering from a stab wound to his stomach. The school was subsequently placed in lockdown mode between 2:50 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., while the Toronto Police Service and the Emergency Task Force were going from classroom to classroom, searching for the suspects. Thomas has since been rushed to St. Michael's Hospital where he's currently being recovered and has been listed in serious but stable condition. Police are currently investigating whether robbery was the motive in the stabbing and are currently looking for two suspects, but it is unknown whether these suspects were from this school.
