Omnixray Forensic Disk Editor

Omnixray Forensic Disk Editor

Omnixray is a commercial disk and file utility that supports the file systems used in Microsoft DOS/Windows 9X, Windows 2000, and Windows XP (FATx, NTFSx).

Created as an alternative to Windows disk editors for disk editing and data forensics, the software operates under a 16-bit operating system, MS DOS or compatible OS like Free DOS.

Omnixray, running in a stand-alone application, can examine and edit an NTFS system all from a single floppy disk or boot CD-ROM. This allows examination and file recovery for NTFS hard drives that can not boot into the Windows environment due to a file system error. The main advantage for Omnixray to operate in the 16-bit DOS environment is its ability to access the file system while not disrupting any data on the target drive.

The NTFS file structures can also be viewed or edited and decoded.

The current version for release at the time of this writing[when?] is 4.35.
