Enrique made his first start against the Cincinnati Reds on May 28, by|2006, pitching 6 innings for the Arizona Diamondbacks and giving up only one run. He was in the rotation for a majority of the season, but was inconsistent and pitched out of the bullpen for the last few weeks of the season. On September 17, by|2007, he was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals. On February 5, by|2008, Gonzalez was claimed off waivers by the San Diego Padres. After appearing in 4 games, he was sent outright to the minors on April 15.
