- Wherrytown
Wherrytown is a settlement in
Cornwall ,UK situated betweenPenzance andNewlyn . The village was largely destroyed in the Ash Wednesday storm of 7th March 1962. Only the former village pub remains from the original structures within the village; it is now an Indian restaurant. Wherrytown was also the site of a sub-marine mine known as 'Wheal Wherry' which was mined between 1778 to 1798 (when the access was destroyed by a runaway ship) and again from 1836 to 1840. cite journal
