Tom Gores

Tom Gores is an American businessman and a self made financier whose investment holdings include California leveraged buyout business Platinum Equity, where he is founder, chairman and chief executive officer. Through Platinum Equity, Mr. Gores owns a portfolio of operating companies in a broad range of business markets including information technology, telecommunications, logistics, and chemical and industrial manufacturing, distribution and service. Mr. Gores makes his investments through a diversified capital base that includes the assets of Platinum Equity's portfolio companies as well as a private equity fund backed by capital commitments from public and private institutional investors.

His brother, Alec Gores, heads a similar but unrelated buyout firm, the Gores Group. Another brother, Sam Gores, heads the Paradigm talent agency.

Tom Gores lives in Beverly Hills, California with his wife and three children. He was born in Israel and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a child. With an estimated current net worth of $2.2 billion dollars, he was ranked in 2007 by "Forbes" as the 204th-richest person in America.
