"If You Wear That Velvet Dress" is the tenth track on U2's 1997 album, "Pop". It originated from the "Zooropa" album sessions.
During the "Pop" sessions, it was initially not intended to be included on the album but was planned as a B-Side for the "Discothèque" single. Adam Clayton and producer Howie B revised it in the final days before the single's release so it could be included on the album. [http://www.u2station.com/news/archives/1997/02/index.php]
The song was played at nearly every show on the PopMart Tour. It was played in full at the first date of the tour in Las Vegas. During the song, Bono would bring up a woman from the audience and slow dance with her. It appeared on the video release "". It was released in a lounge music version with Bono and Jools Holland, in 2002.
