Zhuang Yong (Chinese: 庄泳 born
August 10 ,1972 inShanghai ) is a former freestyleswimmer fromChina , whose best performance was winning the gold medal in the 100 m freestyle at the1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona, Spain . It meant China's first gold medal in swimming. Four years earlier inSeoul she won China's first ever Olympic medal in swimming, ending up second in the final of the Women's 100 m Freestyle, behindDDR 'sKristin Otto .Zhuang learned to swim as a
kindergarten er, and entered a local swimming school at age seven. Joined the Shanghai Team in1984 , she was chosen by the China National Swimming Team for intensified training two years later.High performances
