HMS "Inconstant" (H49) was an I-class
destroyer laid down as TCG "Muavenet" for theTurkish Navy byVickers Armstrong Naval Construction Works atBarrow-in-Furness on24 May 1939 , purchased in September 1939 by theRoyal Navy , launched on24 February 1941 and commissioned on24 January 1942 ."Inconstant" participated in the assault on
Madagascar in May 1942, and attacked and sank the enemy German submarines "U-409" in theMediterranean north-east ofAlgiers on12 July 1943 and "U-767" while in company with the destroyers HMS|Fame|H78|6 and HMS|Havelock|H88|6 in theEnglish Channel south-west ofGuernsey on18 June 1944 . "Inconstant" was returned toTurkey on9 March 1946 and renamed "Muavenet". She was discarded in1960 .
