Jan Cellucci

Jan Cellucci is a librarian and the former First Lady of Massachusetts. She served as First Lady while her husband Paul Cellucci was governor.

Cellucci has been a professional librarian in Massachusetts since the 1970s. She was the assistant director of the public library in Hudson, Massachusetts and later the director of the library at the Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts. Cellucci worked at Boston College for a number years in the university library system. Her roles at BC included as Preservation Manager and Associate University Librarian for Collection Services. While at BC, she served as an advisory board member of the Northeastern Document Conservation Center.

Cellucci became the First Lady of Massachusetts in 1997, when her husband succeeded former Gov. William Weld, who resigned to unsuccessfully seek the ambassadorship to Mexico. While serving as first lady, Cellucci maintained her full-time position at Boston College. She also joined the Board of the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund.

In April 2001, Governor Cellucci resigned as governor to become United States Ambassador to Canada. Cellucci left her position at BC to join her husband in the ambassador's residence in Ottawa. While in Canada, Cellucci was a goodwill ambassador for the Canadian Association of Research Libraries. In this position, she traveled across Canada to visit libraries and promote library science policy to Canadian decision-makers. She was also an assistant curator for a children's books exhibit at Library and Archives Canada in 2003. Cellucci is a member of the University of British Columbia's Presidential Advisory Council on University Libraries.

Cellucci left Ottawa in 2005 when her husband stepped down as ambassador and the two returned to Massachusetts. She was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a member of National Commission for Libraries and Information Science. She continues her duties at the University of British Columbia.

Cellucci and her husband have two daughters, Kate and Anne.
