Viscount Gough

Viscount Gough

Viscount Gough, of Goojerat in the Punjab and of the city of Limerick, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1849 for the military commander Hugh Gough. He had already been created a Baronet, of Synone and Drangan, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom, on 23 December 1842, and Baron Gough, of ChingKangFoo in China and of Maharajpore and the Sutlej in the East Indies, in 1849, also in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. Lord Gough would later become a Field Marshal. As of 2006 the titles are held by his great-great-grandson, the fifth Viscount, who succeeded his father in 1951.

The family seat is Keppoch House, near Dingwall, Ross-shire.
