anniversaries=The Royal Canadian Infantry Corps no longer exists. The Infantry is now a
personnel branch of theCanadian Forces (CF), known as the "Infantry Branch".History
Originally formed as the Canadian Infantry Corps in
1942 to encompass all existing infantry regiments, including regiments offoot guards , in theCanadian Army . The corps was granted its "royal" designation in1947 and was designated Royal Canadian Infantry Corps 30 Apr 1947 to be redesignated The Royal Canadian Infantry Corps 22 Mar 1948 and revert back to Royal Canadian Infantry Corps 18 Apr 1955. With integration of the Canadian Forces it became Infantry Branch, Canadian Forces 2 May 1969. Today, the administration and training and both the regular and reserve infantry that form part of Land Commandis the responsibility for the Infantry School, which runs courses in all aspects of infantry operation, and is stationed atCFB Gagetown .Regular Force
Note: each regular force regiment retains a parachute company.
