Luis Miguel Salvador, (born
February 26 ,1968 inMexico City ), is a retired Mexican football striker.Salvador was a squad member for the Mexican national team at the
1994 FIFA World Cup , playing only 10 minutes during the Republic of Ireland match. During his final club years with Atlante, Salvador was jokingly referred to as Luis Miguel "Fallador", a Spanish play on words for his poor striking ability ("Fallador" is derived from the Spanish "fallar", which means "to miss". "Fallador" literally translates as "the Squanderer").Salvador is the third scorer in Atlante history, just below "
Cabinho " andSebastián González . He used the number 9 in his jersey, he only changed it whenHugo Sánchez came toAtlante so he changed his number to 68.Salvador was champion of the mexican league in the 1992-1993 season. In that squad he played with such noteworthy players as
Daniel Guzmán ,Miguel Herrera ,Raúl Gutiérrez , andRoberto Andrade . The coach wasRicardo Lavolpe (who has only won 1 Mexican League and was with Atlante). In this season, Salvador finished second in the top scorers list, just below Ivo Bassay.During his stay with the Celaya team, Salvador's goal celebrations were unique. He pretended to be meditating, playing golf, fishing, and other unusual behavior.
