Charles Lewis Beale

Charles Lewis Beale (March 5, 1824, Canaan, New York – January 30, 1899, Hudson, New York) was a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York.

Beale graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York, in 1844, where he had been a member of The Kappa Alpha Society, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1849. He commenced practice in Kinderhook, New York in 1851 and continued the practice of law in Hudson, New York from 1866 to 1890. He was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1861), but was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1860 to the following Congress. He was a Presidential Elector in 1864. Afterwards, he became a delegate to the Union National Convention at Philadelphia in 1866 and resumed his law practice. He died in Hudson, New York, on January 30, 1899 and was interred in Kinderhook Cemetery.
