Non-permanent marker

Non-permanent marker

A non-permanent marker is a marker used for markings where permanence is not required or would be a drawback, as for example marking on overhead projectors or overhead transparencies, or whiteboards. It can be erased with a cloth or paper towel. Some pens require a wet cloth, while dry erase markers can be erased with a dry one.

These markers are generally used on non-porous surfaces, as the ink used in the marker has to adhere to the writing surface without being absorbed.

The erasable ink does not contain the toxic chemical compounds, xylene and/or toluene, unlike permanent markers.

"Non-permanent" markers were invented by Pentel.
