homepage = [http://www.kgcwtv.com/ www.kgcwtv.com]KGCW-TV is a CW affiliate for the
Quad Cities . The station, which is owned by Burlington Television Acquisitions (a subsidiary of Grant Broadcasting, making it a sister station toKLJB-TV ), broadcasts at analog channel 26/digital channel 41 and is licensed toBurlington, Iowa . Its analog transmitter is located in Burlington and its digital transmitter is located nearAledo, Illinois , half-way in between Burlington and the Quad Cities.KGCW's full-powered analog signal fails to cover the Quad Cities adequately, as low-powered
MyNetworkTV affiliateWBQD-LP also broadcasts on channel 26. However, this is made up by the station being available on cable systems in the area and on KLJB's DT2 subcarrier.Digital television
After the analog television shutdown and digital conversion scheduled to take place on February 17, 2009 http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DA-06-1082A2.pdf] , KGCW will continue broadcasts on channel 41, using PSIP to display KGCW's
virtual channel as 26.It is anticipated that the digital transmitter near Aledo will finally give the station full over-the-air HDTV coverage of the
Quad Cities television market, including its city of license Burlington to the southwest and the largerQuad Cities Metropolitan Area to the northeast.History
KGCW signed on the air in 1988 as KJMH, a Fox affiliate, but in the years that followed KJMH suffered interference and duplication from nearby Fox affiliate
KLJB-TV . Eventually, the two stations began to simulcast, an arrangement that lasted from 1996 until 2001, when KJMH became "The WB " affiliate for the Quad Cities, adopting the KGWB-TV call sign. In 2006, the station was picked as "The CW Television Network " affiliate for the area. To reflect this affiliation, KGWB changed its call letters to KGCW-TV onJune 30 ,2006 . The current CW logo is not in the standard CW logo color, which is green.References
