Todd Schnitt , who also hosts theMJ Morning Show . It is transmitted from and airs in Tampa,Florida . It is also syndicated to stations in Miami, Florida, and Charleston, South Carolina, Biloxi, Mississippi, as well as on XM (Ch. 152) Satellite Radio. The show is distributed byJones Radio Networks .History
WIOD (2001-2002)
The show began in October 2001 on Miami's local news-talker WIOD, in the afternoon drive slot. During this post-
9/11 period, radio was scrambling for more national news and talk programs, which helped jump-start the careers of hosts likeGlenn Beck . During the 2001 months, Schnitt continued to do the Miami talk show out of a studio at Tampa's WFLA radio station.WFLA and syndication (2002-)
In 2002, WFLA's afternoon personality, Glenn Beck, was picked up by
Premiere Radio Networks for national syndication in mid-mornings. WFLA moved the Beck show from 9 a.m. to noon, and Schnitt was given the afternoon drive time slot on his own flagship station. Early on, the show was played onWSRQ in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida, while it was a simulcast of WFLA, as well as WFLF in Orlando, and later WOAI San Antonio. WFLF dropped the show in 2003. WOAI carried the show from 2003 to the end of 2005, when, in talk radio's trend to run mostly less expensive national syndicated shows, Schnitt was replaced by Sean Hannity. In 2004, WMAX in Atlanta picked up the show for a short time, giving the show its strongest market, but it was cancelled after seven months because of a format change to Spanish programming.2006 saw affiliate growth with Charleston, South Carolina's
WSCC ,Extreme XM onXM Satellite Radio , andWERC inBirmingham, Alabama , the latter of which dropped the program in 2008. 2007 brought aboard gulf coast stationsWBUV andWFBX .Jones Radio signs the show
After nearly a decade of Schnitt's home station syndicating the show, Jones Radio Networks signed the show to syndication. Jones Radio now sells and distributes the show nationally via satellite, after launching it on
2008-04-28 . Most of the stations running the show, however, are Clear Channel-owned, the company Schnitt works for.The show's opening theme song (i.e., "It's Time for the Schnitt Show") is based on SR-71's "Right Now".
