USS "Shad" has been the name of two ships in the United States Navy, named after the shad, a fish of the herring family, common along coasts of the United States..

*USS "Shad" (SP-551) was a motorboat that patrolled Boston harbor during and after World War I.

*USS "Shad" (SS-235), a "Gato"-class submarine, that served from 1942 until 1947.
