Rod Black is a
Canadian sports announcer for TSN and CTV Sports. He calls games for the CFL,Toronto Raptors and theToronto Blue Jays . He also calls Canadian golf tournaments for the PGA, on occasionbowling tournaments,curling andfigure skating . He anchored CTV's coverage of the1991 Canada Cup ,1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona, Spain and the1994 Winter Olympics inLillehammer, Norway . He won the 2005 Sports Media Canada Award as Outstanding Sports Broadcaster and has earned fiveGemini Award nominations for Best Sports Broadcaster.Prior to coming onto the national scene, Rod Black studied Creative Communications at Red River College in his hometown of
Winnipeg, Manitoba . Black got his start as a sports announcer at the age of 19 at the local CTV affiliate CKY-TV where he soon became host of the Winnipeg Jets’ NHL broadcasts.He has been a co-host of "
Canada AM ", the host of "CKY Sports Sunday", and is a spokesperson forFoster Parents Plan of Canada. He broke the news of the terrorist attacks on the United States onSeptember 11 ,2001 , while with "Canada AM".External links
