Congressional Youth Leadership Council

Congressional Youth Leadership Council

The Congressional Youth Leadership Council (CYLC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, United States based organization that is also open to young people from other countries and has been in operation since 1986. It contracts Envision EMI, a "for-profit" organization, to manage its programs. Its stated goal is to "foster and inspire young people to achieve their full leadership potential."Fact|date=February 2007

The scholars have to undergo nomination and selection process to be chosen for placement in the program. The program is designed to provide the scholars with a "distinguished academic environment" to enable them to improve their opportunities in becoming world leaders.

It is currently supported by members of the United States Congress ( however not government run) and foreign embassies, although such endorsements are of questionable reliability. [Kemper, Vicki. Accessed May 19, 2008.]

The tuition cost to students participating in the programs is approximately $3000.

Finances

According to CYLC's 2006 IRS Form 990 (required for non-profits and tax-exempt organizations), NYLC's total revenue was $48 million. Envision EMI also manages the National Youth Leadership Forum.
