Lindsay Dracass

Lindsay Dracass, a singer, was born in 1984 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.

Beginnings

Lindsay was discovered at 13 years old by her manager Alan Wood who heard her sing at a charity show in their hometown of Sheffield. On hearing her, Alan became Lindsay's manager. Determined to get into the music industry, Lindsay asked if she could complete her work experience programme in his music office. During which, Alan went a step further and introduced her to fellow Sheffielder, the hit singer/songwriter, Paul Carrack.

At the age of 15 Lindsay performed live as a backing singer in the UK, Europe and the U.S. with Paul and performed at the Glastonbury 2000 festival. On a trip to Los Angeles, Lindsay was introduced to hit record producer Peter Van Hooke, the current drummer with Mike and The Mechanics

Eurovision Song Contest 2001

As a 15 year old schoolgirl, Lindsay was selected through a BBC programme by the British public to be the UK's entrant for the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest, which that year was held at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. With a song entitled "No Dream Impossible", Lindsey was the 16th act to sing on the night (out of 23 countries), and came 15th overall with 28 points - Ireland being the country to give her the most points (four).
