Symmes Creek

Symmes Creek is a tributary of the Ohio River, about 60 mi (97 km) long, in southern Ohio in the United States. [ [http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/water/watersheds/Basins72PDI_40x40_OnScreen.gifMap of Ohio watersheds] ] The United States Board on Geographic Names settled on "Symmes Creek" as the stream's name in 1902. According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as "Simms," "Big Creek," and "Symms Creek." [Gnis|1077020|Symmes Creek]

Symmes Creek rises in southeastern Jackson County and flows generally southwardly through Gallia and Lawrence Counties, through a portion of the Wayne National Forest.
