Scotty Cameron

Scotty Cameron (1962—) is an American golf club maker primarily known for creating putters.

Scotty was born in Glendale, California on November 8th, 1962. He later moved to Huntington Beach, where he attended Edison High School. He began designing clubs using a table-top mill in his mother-in-law's garage in Orange County, California. After working for many golf club companies, Scotty and his wife Kathy started Cameron Golf International and in 1993, one of their putters was used to win The Masters.

During The Players Championship in 1994 well known teaching pro Peter Kostis approached Scotty and mentioned that Titleist was interested in his company to design putters. The next day Scotty received a call from Wally Uihlein, CEO of Acushnet Company, and they agreed to meet. After several meetings, it was clear they shared the same vision and a business relationship was formed. In November of 1994, Cameron Golf International and Acushnet Company became partners. Now he has his own shop in California "Scotty's Custom Shop". [ [http://www.scottycameron.com/studio/bio.asp] Scotty Cameron web site]

Players Using Scotty Cameron Putters

Tiger Woods uses a Scotty Cameron Newport 2. It is a cast putter made similarly to his original Ping which he grew up playing. It was made by melting a billet of 303 German Stainless Steel and pouring it into a mold and then skim milling it to its finished shape. German Stainless Steel is a stainless steel from Germany and Acushnet Corporation (Titleist's parent company) holds a Trademark (registration number 2930902) on the term GSS which denotes German Stainless Steel. Tiger's putter is 35.25", D7 swingweight and approximately 326 grams. It has a single sight dot and a red "cherry dot" on both the face and in the back cavity. The putter also has a blank sole and has "Tiger" on the left bumper and "Woods" on the right bumper. The grip on Tiger's putter is a Ping "Blackout." Tiger has used a Scotty Cameron putter for all of his professional golf victories since 1998 and his current putter (the cast one made from stainless steel) was first put into play in 2000.

A number of other professional golfers use Scotty Camerons including those that are on staff of many other major golf companies (Nike, Taylormade, Callaway, etc.).

Major Victories

Scotty Cameron putters have been used to win more modern golf tournaments than any other putter manufacturer. Since 1993 more than 500 worldwide tournaments and nearly 50% of the 4 Golf Majors won with a Scotty Cameron putter.
