Rent Magic Software

Rent Magic Software ( [http://www.rentmagic.ca RMS] ) is a software development company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada specializing in property management software. It is family owned and run, founded by Russell Levy.

Current Business Activities

In 2000, Rent Magic 1.0 was released, written in Visual Basic, using Microsoft Access as its back end. It was mostly very simple, made for people switching from DOS based systems due to Y2K.

In 2004, a totally rewritten product was released, labeled Rent Magic 2.0. It was coded in C++, with MySQL as the database server. It allowed unlimited users clients to the system from anywhere in the world, using MySQL's C library.

On April 25, 2006, RMS released a new product, ManageUDA Online. With ManageUDA Online, data is stored on Rent Magic's server, and users use the Rent Magic client to connect to their data. With this product, RMS is moving to become an Application Service Provider.

Future Plans

As Rent Magic 2.0 becomes feature complete, RMS is moving to create clients for different platforms. * It is currently working on a J2ME client, so users will be able to access their system from their cell phone, BlackBerry, Palm, or PocketPC.

RMS is also looking to integration with various service providers, such as Rent Check Corp. for credit checking, and credit card processors.
