"Pain of Mind" is the debut studio album from the Californian band Neurosis. The album documents their early stages as a hardcore punk band in the vein of Discharge, Black Flag, Amebix and Die Kreuzen. The reissues contain a special bonus disc that includes live tracks, live radio tracks and demo tracks.

It was originally released on Alchemy Records (U.S.) in 1987 and later reissued by Alternative Tentacles in 1990 and 1994 and by Neurot Recordings in 2000.

Notably featured on the original front cover of the album is Pennsylvanian politician, Robert "Budd" Dwyer, moments before he committed suicide during a televised press conference in 1987.
