"The West Tonight" is the flagship news programme in the ITV West region. It broadcasts at 6pm every weeknight. Previously known as "HTV News" and "ITV West News", the new name came in when Lisa Aziz returned to ITV West from Sky News, although it had been used during the HTV West days. Like all ITV plc regional news programmes, it uses the generic ITV font and idents.

"The West Today/Tonight" airs on ITV1 West seven days a week.

The West Today

On weekdays, ITV West provides three news bulletins during GMTV at 6:35am, 7:10am and 8:10am. The 7-minute mid-morning bulletin airs at 11:10am, immediately after an ITV News Summary, during "This Morning". The lunchtime bulletin follows on from the "ITV Lunchtime News", giving a six minute round-up of the days developments from 1:55pm.

The West Tonight

The main evening edition of "The West Tonight" begins at 6.00pm, and ends at 6.30pm. The late edition of the programme follows "News at Ten", airing between 10.30pm and 10.45pm, Mondays to Thursdays, and between 11.30pm and 11.45pm on Fridays, after "The Late News".

Weekend bulletins

"The West Today/Tonight" airs four bulletins at weekends: two on Saturday, at lunchtime, and late afternoon, and two on Sunday: at lunchtime and the evening edition usually at 6.25pm before the "ITV Weekend News" .The weekend bulletins don't have set times.
