Yuka Nakagawa

Yuka Nakagawa

Yuka Nakagawa (中川 有香 "Nakagawa Yuka") is a character in the novel "Battle Royale", and the film and manga of the same name. In the film she was played by Satomi Hanamura.

Yuka has a blood type of B.

Pre-Program

Yuka Nakagawa is one of the class of third-year students at the fictional Shiroiwa Junior High School in Shiroiwa (located in Kagawa Prefecture in the novel and manga and the Kanagawa Prefecture in the film). She was a slightly chubby girl with a tanned complexion, who was always cheerful. She is known for being something of a class clown. Yuka is a member of the tennis team. Although she has the same family name as Noriko Nakagawa, the two are unrelated.

During The Program

Yuka is one of the girls who teams up with Yukie Utsumi and the others at the lighthouse. Upon hearing that Shuya has awoken, she playfully teases Yukie about her relationship with Shuya. Yuko Sakaki is afraid of Shuya Nanahara, who is lying injured upstairs, because she believes he killed Tatsumichi Oki, so she puts poison in Shuya's food. Yuka comes in and unknowingly eats the poisoned food. Her death, moments later, causes the paranoid panic that leads to the death of all the girls in the lighthouse.

In the Manga, it was Yuka's job to take the food to Shuya and she reckons she should test it first, stating that she wanted to see whether it gets the 'Yuka Seal of Approval,' but the acid kills her. Later while Shuya laments the death of each of the girls from the lighthouse, he describes Yuka as not ever letting anyone be sad around her.
