In 1949, he graduated from
Moscow Aviation Institute (МАI). Since 1947 he worked in Flight Research Institute named after Michail Gromov (LII) in Zhukovsky, where he was occupied with researches and flight tests of the aircraft crew rescue systems and in-flight refueling systems.By a collective of engineers, led by Severin, some major principles and working prototypes of landing systems and rocket emergency escape slides for
Vostok spacecraft were done.Since 1964 he became the Head designer, General Designer and, eventually,
General Director andGeneral Designer of the joint-stock companyNPP Zvezda , located inTomilino .Under his direction, the company developed
space-suit s,life support system s and rocket emergency escape slides for "all"USSR /Russia spacecrafts and orbitingspace station s, starting from "Vostok 1 ", including the special inflatable EVAairlock of the "Voskhod 2 ", an open space manoeuvring unit, etc.He participated in preparations for the
Yuri Gagarin and other Sovietcosmonaut sspace flight s on "Vostok", "Voskhod" and "Soyuz" spacecrafts.Was married, two children. Double times
champion of the USSR on themountain skiing .Guy Severin died in a hospital after he broke legs while skiing on a mountain ski lodge imitation near Moscow owned by Zvezda factory on
February 7 ,2008 . Civil funeral was held in theHouse of Culture Zvezdniy in Tomilino onFebruary 11 ,2008 . Service was attended byBoris Chertok , last remaining colleague ofSergei Korolev .On
