Bobby Cruise is an American ring announcer for
professional wrestling .Career
Cruise debuted for
New England Wrestling at the Police Athletic League Hall inFall River, MA in April 1994. From that point forward, Cruise was the ring announcer for the company and he also handled the play-by-play work for the companies cable access show alongside color commentator and wrestler Sky King.In late 1995, Cruise began to work for some other independent promotions around New England and he continued that work into 2000. Bobby was brought into the Premier Wrestling Federation (PWF) in Pennsylvania by owner
Steve Corino . While working for the PWF, Cruise was spotted by Japan's ZERO-ONE promotion and their General Manager Yoshiuki Nakamura. In January 2003, Cruise made his Japan debut by ring announcing for the first ZERO-ONE U$A Pay-per-View at the legendary Korauken Hall in Tokyo, JP.In August 2003, Cruise did a special ring introduction for Steve Corino at the
Ring of Honor (ROH) event "Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies". The introduction was the brainchild of Corino's "cornerman" Chuck "Guillotine" LeGrande and it became an instant hit and Bobby continued doing the special intros for Corino for the next few months in ROH.In February 2004, Pro Wrestling WORLD-1 debuted and Cruise was the ring announcer and play-by-play man for the promotion. Also in 2004, Cruise filled in as the ring announcer on a couple of ROH events in his home of Massachusetts. In October 2004, Cruise was offered the full-time ring announcer position by ROH and he has worked in that position through today.
In April 2006, the
Dragon Gate promotion in Japan invited Bobby to go to Japan for them to announce their "WrestleJAM" events in July 2006 and he will be announcing five events for Dragon Gate. Also in 2006, Cruise debuted in theUnited Kingdom for Ring of Honor's first international tour.In September and October 2006, Cruise announced for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), doing the ring announcing for two edition of "WWE HEAT", as well as some non-televised matches. The events took place in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Chicago and St. Louis.
In July 2007, Cruise returned to Japan for a fourth time to announce the two ROH debut events in Japan, as well as Dragon Gate's "WrestleJAM Season 2."
In January 2008, Bobby was back in Japan, once again announcing for Dragon Gate for their six show tour of "WrestleJAM Season 3".
In March 2008, Cruise did the ring announcing for the main event scene of Darren Aronofsky's ("Requiem For A Dream") new movie project "The Wrestler". The film is slated to be released in early 2009.
