Bobby Whavers

Bobby Whavers (born August 4, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a American jazz singer and pianist.

Bobby was born to Bernice Bradley and Alton Whavers in the 9th ward of New Orleans, where at a young age had an interest in music. When his peers were playing basketball or learning to dance, he, on the other hand, was sitting in the window of Preservation Hall, watching every move of the piano player there. He knew then he wanted a career in music. After studying Jazz Composition and Performance at Loyola University at New Orleans and performing in the New Orleans and surrounding areas for years, Bobby has concentrated his efforts into a solo performance and brings with him the flavor of mellow Jazz, Blues and funk to audiences world wide. After working with the renowned Jazz Saxophone player Gary Brown and Feelings, producing and performing music with artists like Jean Knight, Rap Artist Master P, R&B vocal group Elate’, as well as writing and producing his own material, he’s decided that it was time to do his own thing. As the owner of Creative Musical Design, Inc., he has visions that will no doubt launch his career well into the next millennium.

Bobby is the former Bandleader of an international R&B touring group, "Unity", a native New Orleanian group. He has performed locally at the world-renowned New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the House of Blues and at the News Orleans VA Medical Center during the Vet Festival. Mr. Whavers has also performed opening concerts for well-known musicians such as Philip Emanuel, Lady B.T. and jazz trumpeter Kermit Ruffin. He has traveled internationally and performed in Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico, St. Thomas and St. Marten. A video of Bobby performing George Benson’s rendition of “Masquerade” during the 2004 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival can be found at: Bobbywhavers.com/movie.

Currently, Bobby Whavers has been performing throughout the Caribbean Islands for Carnival Cruise Lines, Inc. on several vessels with various Lounge Acts or as a featured performer/pianist with the Ship’s Main Lounge Big Bands.
