Automotive Network Exchange

The ANX Network (ANX) is the private network or extranet that was initially setup and maintained by the big three automakers through the Automotive Industry Action Group [http://www.aiag.org/] , General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. It was built as a private network for the auto industry around 1995 to provide consistent, reliable speed and guaranteed security for data transmissions between the automakers and the companies that they do business with. Since the time of its introduction over 4000 companies have joined the "ANX Network".

To become a part of the ANX Network, a company needs to subscribe via a Certified Service Provider (CSP). Currently there are only five CSP's due to the strict regulations and high specifications. The short list of CSP's include AT&T, Verizon, Bell Canada (Canada), Cavalier Communications, and SBC. ANXeBusiness manages and operates the network. A CSP must meet these minimum criteria: Packet loss <1% & Latency <125ms. A connection to the ANX Network consists of a dedicated circuit.

The AIAG sold the ANX Network to [http://www.saic.com SAIC] which formed ANXeBusiness to grow the network and support the ANX Community. SAIC spun off [http://www.anx.com/ ANXeBusiness] which is now owned by [http://www.oneequity.com/ One Equity Partners] .
