The song, like "Whatchulookinat " and "One of Those Days " before it, was a modest hit and was the third single released off Houston's platinum album, "Just Whitney ". It became a hit on the U.S. adult contemporary singles chart reaching number ten, and the remixed version became a number-one U.S. dance hit. Houston performed "Try It on My Own" on an episode of "Boston Public " ("Chapter Sixty-Six"), which first aired in May 2003. OnMay 20 2003 Arista released a DVD single featuring the videos for "Try It on My Own" and "One of Those Days", both which were certified gold by the RIAA and peaked at number twenty-four on the BillboardHot 100 Singles Sales chart.Charts
